The Bristol Light Opera Club staged Rudolf Friml and Herbert Stothart’s Rose Marie at the Empire Theatre, Bristol, from Monday 27th November to Saturday 2nd December 1950, nightly at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee. It was the club’s second show of the year, after The Duchess of Dantzic in January. The run was “in aid of Bristol Blind School Swimming Pool”, and the club announced that its donations to charity “during the past three seasons have amounted to over £300”. John Heming directed, assisted by Sydney Hunt, with Eveline Hosegood as Rose Marie. The one-shilling “souvenir programme” carries photographs of eleven principals. The Empire Orchestra, “led by Mr. D. Gough”, was augmented by the club’s voluntary players under H. N. Wybourne.
