In October 1972 the Bristol Light Opera Club staged Fiddler on the Roof at the Bristol Hippodrome for two weeks, from Tuesday 3rd to Saturday 14th October, with the Lord Mayor and civic party at the opening night. Brian Harding played Tevye, with Sally Noble producing, Robert Latham as musical director and Philippa Laing as choreographer. Several roles were shared between performances: Tzeitel by Teresa Davey and Cicely Meyer, “two sisters in real life”, and Chava partly by Joanne Pearce, “at 15 one of the youngest members to be cast in a principal role”. The club thanked Mr and Mrs Ernest Morris and Dr Sidney Curwen “for advice on Jewish customs and manners”. The “souvenir programme” cost 10p.
