In April 1948 the Bristol Light Opera Club staged Sidney Jones’s My Lady Molly, “a romantic light opera in two acts” set in the middle of the 18th century, at the Victoria Rooms, Clifton, playing nightly at 7.0 p.m. “All proceeds” went to the “St. George’s Church Restoration Fund, Brandon Hill”. Hugh Pritchard produced, with H. N. Wybourne as musical director and Eveline Hosegood in the title role, and the club’s Orchestral Section, led by Corbet Sheldon, provided the music. The sixpenny programme thanks the Berkeley Hunt for “hounds kindly loaned”, credits Bristol Theatre Services with the lighting and stage direction, and invites audiences to send in “suggestions for future productions”.
