The Bristol Light Opera Club staged Song of Norway, the musical “based on the life and music of Edvard Grieg”, at the Hippodrome, Bristol, from Monday 11th to Saturday 16th November 1957, playing nightly at 7.15 p.m. with a Saturday matinee. It was the Club’s second production of the show, which appears under 1952 in the programme’s list of previous productions. John Heming produced, and Frank Duggan conducted the Hippodrome Orchestra, “augmented by” guest players, with Marjorie Budd at the solo pianoforte. Dancers from the Bristol Ballet Club, directed by Dorothy Woods, joined a chorus of twenty ladies and twenty-three gentlemen, and the programme invited supporters to the Club’s Annual Dinner-Dance at the Royal Hotel on 28th November.
