Although these are auditions to join the Club, rather than for a specific show, you will understand that when we recruit new members in any year, it is with a view to our casting requirements for that year’s show. This year we are performing We Will Rock You at the Bristol Hippodrome in the last week of August (not ideal, but all we’re offered!).
As always, we will be looking to audition individuals who ideally have a ‘triple threat’ combination of all-round musical theatre skills: strong vocalists, confident dancers/movers and convincing actors with an engaging stage presence.

You apply to join BLOC by completing the application form linked at the bottom of this page.
We will then shortlist a number of applicants for audition on Sunday January 25th, so please check that you will be available on this day before you apply. NB: we cannot offer places based on self-tapes alone.
Those who are invited will be asked to learn and perform a short dance routine (taught on the day) and also to perform a 32 bar/90 second cut of an appropriate song from the rock/pop genre. You must provide the sheet music and sing in the specified key, accompanied by our pianist. It is very important to demonstrate your abilities by performing the song, not just singing it beautifully! We will be assessing ‘acting through song’—see guidance notes.
The deadline to completing your application is midnight on Sunday January 4th and our decision will be communicated to you by Sunday January 11th.
Those who are subsequently invited to join BLOC will be asked to pay the annual subscription of £150.00. This includes all productions costs and costumes (except shoes). Bursaries are available for anyone who finds the fees a barrier to membership.
