From Monday 12th to Saturday 17th November 1984 the Bristol Light Opera Club staged Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella, the story of an ageing Napa Valley vine grower and the waitress he courts by post, at the Bristol Hippodrome. In his remarks chairman Alan Seager noted that “it is 20 years since BLOC presented The Most Happy Fella”, and that Sylvia Shore (then Sylvia Jordan) and Roderick Young, who played in the 1964 show, were in the cast again. Keith Hutton directed, David Clarke was musical director for his “9th show” with BLOC, and Vicki Klein choreographed in her first season with the club. Friday was “Gala Night and Civic Night”, with the Lord Mayor of Bristol among the guests.
